Richard Corrigan (chef from the tele), has his own slice of paradise in Virginia, County Cavan in the form of the Virginia Park Lodge (@VPLodge). Bought in 2013, Richard operates an exclusive wedding venue and small hotel and a smashing kitchen garden which supplies not only the Virginia Park Lodge but also his various restaurant enterprises in London. Under the stewardship of Sarah and Priscilla the gardens and a show-case of what can be achieved in under 2 years from a green-field site, and a very stony site at that.
It was part of an Educational trip, organised by the Irish chapter of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture that we were afforded such access to the grounds, gardens and to the staff of Virginia Park Lodge. Priscilla (@priscillaNi) and Sarah (@gooseberryfarm) took us on a very enjoyable 2 hours tour of the operation, including the more ornamental parts of the gardens.

The gardens are a joy to behold, and a wonderful way to spend a few hours. The walk up the driveway with its avenue of Lime trees is spectacular in itself. Like all there venues/gardens/places the best way to really appreciate them is to visit!
