Was down in Lifford the other day and swung into the Lifford Clonleigh Resource Centre as I went past for a wee butchers....and caught David hard at work in the potting shed. Now its been a while since I've been down, probably since last Autumn so it thought it would be great to get a look-see and see whats been happening...and boy the place has become super productive...I had to drag David away from his hanging basket orders to show me around...
the garden area has become really productive since David, Sheila and the gang took it over, the guys completed a Fetac 3 and Fetac 4 Horticulture programme with me through the Donegal VEC and have went on from strength to strength since, even writing a monthly gardening column in the community centre newsletter!
I was delighted to be asked to facilitate a workshop on Kitchen garden and Polytunnel use at the mayors launch of the Killea and Lifford Community Gardens by the Donegal Border Villages Community Integration Project (see their website here)
At the workshop we focused on the who, what and where of what to do now in the tunnel and kitchen garden, from planting onions & shallots to sowing chillies to good hygiene and weed control and lots more
