When I posted a while ago about Monkey Puzzle trees I referenced the one in Ashbrook House, here it is...a real stand-out-from-the-crowd tree. The Italian cypress behind it compliments it well and the rowan full of flowers wrap around its stem...
Anyone visiting Ashbrook or other gardens of that age will also be taken by the monkey puzzle trees....when these fellow get big they are a super sight. And indeed when they are young they are a wonderful feature tree for a large garden. A slow tree to grow and mature they can be difficult to source in garden centres, see here if your looking for one for your own garden. Going by the fancy name Arucaria Arucana, Monkey puzzle trees have been a source of wonder for gardeners since their arrival from Chile in the late 1700's. Read more about this amazing tree here
