Since the mid part of August, I've been keeping an eye on a few handy patches for Sloe berries, and today was the day when they were big and juicy and ideal for picking....Got a nice wee pile. I'm a sloe jam maker...rather than the normal sloe-wine maker (Geterbrewed.com has a wonderful hedgerow wine making kit if you fancy it your self!)
As I said I'm not a Sloe Wine maker so I just stewed the fruit with a good cup of water and a few table spoons of Honey and have in a wee plastic tub for freezing...
sloe watch....coming on nicely
Out and about checking a few spots for Sloes recently...and there seems to be a good amount out there, last year they were quite scarse.
