Glenarm Castle Tulip Festival 4-6th May 2013

it was a glorious sunnny day when the Austin family decided to take in the sights and sounds of the Glenarm Castle Tulip Festival.

Over 8000 tulips had been planted by the head gardener and his team, and although it has been one of the slowest starts to the year the tulips were (mostly) out and in full swing on the Bank Holiday Monday.

BallyScullion Park in late Spring

I recently took a late Spring dander to Ballyscullion Park in Bellaghy, I had visited this magnificant estate late Autumn and was keen to see how the walled garden and grounds looked in the Spring. Mrs Rosalind Mullholland was my guide for the afternoon, and I was delighted to see that the grounds were benefiting from some serious work, large scale control of Laurels is underway and more paths have been cut through the unused part of the walled garden, and it was wonderful to be able to see the entire area...below you'll see a slideshow of some of the sights of the Ballyscullion Park in Ballaghy in late Spring...

Some early flowers in Groarty primary

A garden around a school can produce interest and colour all year round, the garden in Groarty is unveiling some of its array of spring flowers now, from Tulips, Muscari to Forsythia and Pansys, the kids have planted them all, and maintained them brilliantly.
