These Pheasant Berry bushes were 10 a penny in the grounds of Belfast Zoo, there pendulistic bracts and flowers were showing great colour. Pheasant berry grow best in wet or damp soils, so a site like the zoo which is set on a marshy hillside is ideal for them. I also saw them growing in vast quantities in the grounds of National Museum of Country Life in county Mayo recently too. Growing anywhere from 4-6' tall these Pheasant Berry plants are striking in the summer and autumn - they have lush berries in the Autumn.
