kohl rabi is a wondetful vegetable, an ancient plant...recorded back in the 6th century. I grow a good bit of it at the house as a favourite of mines is Kohl Rabi soup. So as the various kohl rabi ripen I pick them, blanch them and freeze them, so when I get a load I can then make a big tub of kohl rabi soip...put this into small portions and freeze it.
and the hens go mad for the leaves.....
kohl rabi is a quick cropping plant, from seed sowing to harvest in as little as 14 weeks...its not as demanding as oyher brassica crops such as turnip and swede so well worth a try. I like the odd one raw, thinly sliced its super tasty...
