A number of the trees in Oakfield Park are listed with the Tree Council of Ireland, one such tree being this 300 year old Chestnut tree, which is just starting to open and drop its chestnuts onto the manicured lawns. The 28th of September was the last public open day of the year in Oakfield Park so a few of the visitors were lucky enough to gather a few of these chestnuts for planting at home. Seed saving from a piece of living history...totally cool!
