Today we planted a raised bed full of onions, Sturon was the variety, we planted them in the raised bed so that they would be ready before the ones in the allotment, and so that we can harvest them easily as spring onions (well every second one anyways)> we planted half the bed as red and half as white onions. Firstly we identified the prennials weeds in the beds, removed the roots of these, worked in some compost and some chicken manure and then got planting. Easily 400 onions planted in a matter of half hour. Ready for autumn harvesting as onions and maybe early june as scallions.
