I always enjoy visiting the gardens of Malleny House in Balerno, which is under the ownership of The National Trust for Scotland. Malleny is home to a national collection of 19th century shrub roses and the perfume kicked off by them is amazing....made easier to enjoy by the abundance of benches throughout the garden encourage you to sit back and take all the scents and colour in.
You can find out some more wonderful history of the site and gardens form the Historic Scotland Inventory of Parks and Gardens record on Malleny House
The majority of the roses in Malleny Gardens were sourced from Newliston House, a fantastic Adam designed landscape near Kirkliston
I've some more pics from Malleny Garden in Balerno from a visit last year here, and more details on visiting etc can be found on the National Trust for Scotland website
