Whilst visiting the Eglinton Annual Show 2013 I took this picture of Eglinton Church of Ireland, which has a super show of Boston Ivy growing up the walls.
Boston Ivy is a slightly more ruby coloured version of the common Virginia Creeper, both these climbers are excellent self-clinging climbers for North facing or semi shade walls. Both are very vigorous and will easily grow 6-10' per year. Pruning is essential to keep them in check, as they can quickly swallow a small garden shed or out building. For good coverage of a wall or fence plant 7-10' apart.
