Today I took a wee dander around Troy Hall on the Culmore Road, in Derry. Once a sizeable estate called Troy Park, the house itself now is a private residence of Michael and Anne Doherty, who have owned Troy Hall now for the past 30 years. Michael and Anne opearet a quality B&B in Troy Hall, details of which can be seen on their website here . Dating from 1897 the Hall has some smashing architecture features and 'looks the part' if you get my drift, the turrent, the stained glass windows all add to the impressive appearance of this property.
Troy Park is now a mix of various houses, over the last 100+ years the estate has been sold off in bits and bobs for people to build houses on, the original Gatehouse and the red brick pillars can be seed on the Culmore Rd as you enter Troy Park. An interesting piece appears here mentioning the Troy Hall family connection to Boom Hall and Learmount Castle. Troy Hall itself is split into two properties 9 and 9a, 9a is for sale...if you fancy it! see here
Troy Hall is some pad, thats clear to see. But a visit here has left me with more questions than answers.....so I'll need to ask Gerald McGill for some information and update this post as we find more out....
