Last week myself and the Donegal ETB Horticulture crew, based in the Colgan Hall in Carndonagh visited the garden of Margot Caldwell in Greencastle and were treated to a garden awash with seasonal colour, expertly laid out by Mrs Caldwell. Margot spent a glorious morning regaling us with stories of where each plant came from, and what she considered each plants strengths and weaknesses. :-)
The garden of Margot Caldwell is a new addition to the Donegal Garden Trail for 2015, and is the only garden located in Inishowen. Full details can be view under the listing for Foxrock on the Donegal Garden Trail. This garden is open by appointment, with full details on the above link.
The garden has many layers to it, on our visit the focus was on the use of spring colour and the students were looking creating landscapes in a challenging environments. However we could see signs of the eruption of summer perennials which follow the wonderful displays of spring bulbs, perennials and shrubs. I recommend you visit this garden sometime this year!
