thanks to Connor from Youth Action Ni who came along to the Community Garden Network of Ireland meeting which was held recently in The Playtrail. These meetings happen every 3 months and allow folks involved in community gardens the length and bredth of Ireland to come together and share ideas and develop a shared plan on how to develop the community garden network in Ireland.
The group choose Derry as last year Fountain & Leafair Gardens obtained a Runner-up award in the Pride of Place awards and the group were keen to visit these projects, as the judges as described them as 'innovative use of brown field sities'.
Connor from Youth Action NI was keen to come along and discuss how to engage young people in community gardening, and community work in general, and how the garden groups can help mee the needs of young people, and of course how young peoples involvement can help strengthen and develop a strong community buy-in to any project.

After the meeting the group went on a tour of the 2 garden projects. As they all blog and post pics I'll add links here....
